its safety dude, are you seriously wanting to cheap out on it? then again, i am a cautious person. 700 is a TINY amount to pay for a decent cage. it's not like it's some way overpriced part just because of the name on it, a good cage is going to cost you quite a bit because it is completely hand-fabricated.Originally posted by kantkillkeenan View PostStill crazy overpriced for a basic set-up. 700 for a roll bar with harness bar...redic if u ask me.
have you ever fabricated anything that was of high enough quality to sell? it takes a long time to do this type of thing right. if you have the skills to make something from scratch, you are not going to do it for minimum wage. hell, i spent several hours notching just one tube for a race car i worked on, but when i was done there was such a little gap between the pieces you couldn't shine a light through it. not only does that make it easier to weld and make the weld stronger, it also makes the cage lighter. if you do that at every joint, less filler material will have to be used adding up to a decent amount of weight.Last edited by steelbluesleepR; 02-05-2010, 06:28 AM.

Im not making a cage man...there is a big difference between a roll bar and a cage. The only purpose for a roll bar/harness set up is to make the harness belts safe to use on the track/street not for nascar. I see where your coming from but im not making a cage..i dont have intentions of drifting/running in the 10's. I have some ideas and when i get them from paper to material i will keep you posted and see you approve.
