    flywheel resurfaced

Has anyone had it done when installing a new clutch(if so how much did it cost). Is it a nesisary step to take or would i just be better off getting a lighter flywheel.
Plan is instaling stage three clutch (for turbo project in spring)
Im just wanting to know if i have to even do anything about the flywheel when intalling the new clutch

better off with a new lightened flywheel. majority of the "race" flywheels are weighed in around 8.5 - 9 pds; fidanza, act, clutchmasters, exedy, etc.

unless your clutch is dead...i would just wait until the 3 stage clutch install, will save you time and money.

but yes the flywheel needs to be resurfaced upon a new clutch install, its a single face?...costs around 30-40 dollars.

i figure my clutch is pritty much shoot cause it slips in every gear up to 4th befor it starts going

I figure since im upgrading the clutch i might just get the lightened flywheel with it.

I recently had my stock flywheel resurfaced for $40 along with an Excedy Stage 1 clutch install. Resurfacing is a definite must. Going to a lighter one is not a must but will increase WHP due to less rotating mass (more power delivered to the ground and less power nullified by heavy moving engine parts).

The reason why I didnt go with a lighter one is that the revs drop significantly quicker while shifting. Great for power shifts if you wanna lil extra edge in acceleration, but not so great for every day cruising and casual shifting.

Bottom line: Depends on your driving style

I had my flywheel resurfaced and I like it the way it is. For the reasons vabrova stated.
