    o2 sensor question

I'm getting ready to replace my 90 engine with a 92. The O2 sensor on the 90 is in the exhaust pipe and the 92 is in the manifold. My question is will the wiring harness for the 92 with the plug for the O2 sensor in the manifold work on the 90 car? Does the wiring for the 90 O2 sensor feed into the engine wiring harness or go direct to the computer by another route? I really need to use the newer wiring because the 90 is in bad condition.

well your 90 engine is either F22A4 of F22A6, thats why the 02 sensor is in the exhausts pipes, the 92 engine is F22A1, so it has the )2 sensor in the manifold. To be honest this engine swap will be a downgrade for you if you are swapping A4 or A6 for A1.

Well no the engine in the car was changed out years ago with an F22A1 but they used the old manifold and exhaust pipe and wiring harness. I just replaced the engine from another car I had that had a bad transmission but much lower miles on it. I did use the o2 sensor from the 92 as well as the wiring. I now have a check engine light but the o2 sensor cover was broken off and in the cat so I think it is bad. I am getting a code 1 and a code 2. I am going to splice the plug from the 90 o2 sensor onto the 92 wiring in the morning because they are both male and see if the light goes out. If so I will use the 90 sensor and if not I guess I will go buy a new 92 sensor and see what happens. I suspect the computer is looking for the value of the 90 sensor and turning on the light when it doesn't find it. I will know tomorrow.
