Debris in downpipe?!?

ive always had a rasp between 2300rpm and 2800rpm and assumed it was the heat shield,

but after the car was on ramps the other day when i replaced some bushes i checked the underneath of the car and hit the exhaust in a few places with a hammer (as you do lol) i found that i could hear a piece of metal bouncing about in the downpipe!

it is just before the flexie pipe section. Anyone any ideas on this? how is this got there and why is it stuck there while it clearly moves about??

Could be some pieces from the flex pipe maybe? Those typically go bad on our cars, at least they do on mine... Or maybe something broke off the O2 sensor but then I'm sure you see an engine code... Or maybe something with the cat?

Unbolt the front of the cat, start it up, and you will find out!
