    R-134 Conversion

    Who's done it?

    How did you do it?

Do you like the 134 over the 12 or is it really even noticeable?

I dont use my AC that often, but ive contemplated doing the conversion. Just wanted to see who's done it and if they were glad they did it.

Could you notice a difference? I know ppl say the 12 blows colder, but the 134 is cheaper and better on the environment.

Did on both my bc and my dodge truck, totally worth it. 12 blows colder for sure as 134 takes longer to get going but it still gets down to blowing cold air, just on really really hot days it has some trouble sometimes sitting at stop lights but other than that cheep and worth it.

Well my thing is i hardly use it. It gets hot here but sometimes i like having the windows down. It wont cost much to swap over, im just wondering if there's long term upside to it or if id be fine just leaving it with the 12.

If your system works currently, then I wouldn't mess with it since R12 does blow colder and is more effecient at removing heat. If your system does crap out, then consider the switch to R134a. However, there are other options such as Freeze 12, that work well in our r12 systems.

Yea if you system is working just leave it with R12, but if you don't use it much and it's not working and you are looking for a cheap fix that will last a good amount of time then convert it.

I've never heard of Freeze 12, is it cheep and easy to get?!

It's not too pricey, but you need to have an EPA certificate to purchase it. It's supposed to be close to the molecular makeup of r12. Google it and you'll find some info on it.
