    This is so wierd....

I was having the idle surge problem so i did research and ran across the adjust fitv thread. So I tighten the little white thing inside the Fitv. It fixed my idle problem sure enough, but now my car idles at 500 on startup and doesnt high idle at all. So im thinking that my white thing inside my Fitv was already tight enough, so there must be something else that makes my engine surge

loosen the white valve, you shouldnt have to crank it down. just snug it.

ok i loosened it, its snug and not loose at all but the problem is the highest i can get my car to high idle is 1000rpm, if I loosen it any more it surges

and when are you doing this? engine warm and off? engine running? engine cold? you may have to look else where if the engine is still surging.

i did this very recently with the engine off but warmed up. mine was too tight by 1/2 a turn but it nevered surged. id be looking elsewhere like idle adjustment or Idle air control.

I have did the idle adjustment from the diy section, Ive also swapped my iacv out and I still have this problem, perhaps it is occuring because I have a after market intake with no hose running to the starter booster valve?

bump on this question, i also dont have a hose running to that valve. would this affect idle very much to cause a fuss?

it might just be the IAC
or it can also be your throttle plate sticking
i adjusted my IAC a couple times but i still had a fluctuating idle problem
i came to find out that my throttle plate was sticking
only way to fix it was to replace the throttle body

first...you have to adjust the fitv when the engine is at operating temp
                    ...not cold

second...go ahead and clean the iacv

third...after you adjust the fitv, then you will want to check your base idle.
...both of these are checked/adjusted with the engine at operating temp

if you can not find the proper steps to set base idle post back, and if problem still persists let us know

                      Hey 91@CCORD74,
Just a couple of quick things to check..
Make sure your Battery Terminals are Clean, as well as the Grounds at the Thermostat Housing are Clean & Tight.
Make Sure the Cooling System is bled correctly and free of any Air Pockets. This is a classic cause of Surge Problems in Honda's.
