    Jack Thread

Couldnt find any other threads on this, which surprised me, so i decided to make a thread. About jacks. Lol. Mine froze up on me. Ive tried all kinds of products, but i think it just finally got old and bit the dust, so im on the look for something new.

What kind or brand do you use?
What kind or brand do you recommend/NOT recommend?

OEM skizzor jack is nice, but Ive thought about a small-ish 2-ton floor jack or something, but im not sure as they tend to be heavy and take up space in the trunk, lol.

Let's hear some options and opinions.

Floor jack is nice to have in the garage.
Bottle jack is nice and portable, yet solid. Get one of those for the trunk.

Are our cars high enough for a bottle jack? That was another option i had explored as theyre fairly cheap but didnt think our cars were high enough.

        civic_90...brands?

aluminum low-profile jack from harbor freight. I just bought it on sale for $60 (originally $100) with a two year replacement plan. So far it beats the heck out of my sears jack that I paid thrice as much for.

I have used my friends craftsman 2 ton which I believe they have had for several years. It has been used many many times and still works I recently bought a cobalt brand 2 ton from lowes and so far have had no problems. Good quality and price, I believe it was $35. I don't think you can really go wrong with floor jacks. I would just never trust one for anything more than lifting (holding/ supporting).

Im looking to use it on the roadside, for a flat.

                  check out hydraulic scissor jacks

                  $112
                  $48
                  $47

however like the bottle jacks you still might have a problem with clearance
the lowest of each of those above is 4.5 inches

i personally like scissor jacks, (for roadside), they are awesome, lightweight, and compact. it never takes me anymore than 10 minutes to change a tire with them, bevore i had access to flor jacks i even rotated my tires using my donut and my scissor jack. just make sure they are in functioning condition from time to time and properly greased. at worst for me they are a great upper arm workout

your best bet is probably to go to a junkyard and grab a functioning used one, or put a partswanted ad on this site for one

Whatever you do, don't by the cheap floor jack from Advance Auto Parts. I purchased one for my KA8 and it failed and the car fell. It twisted just like a pretzel. I took it back and they were like "every one we sold has been returned." I was like WTF. Y'all need to stop selling them then.

Bottle jacks are too tall for the CB. I've tried. The best jack is a low profile like Barts said.

Ooh I did not realize that at first. However, the craftsman one did come with a carry case. And while it will take up more room in you trunk it definitely would make changing a flat a lot faster and easier. From a lot of personal experience before I bought mine, I know the factory one can be slow and a pain.. way too many scraped knuckles Just thought I would throw that in. Hope it helps.

Yeah, I think the aluminum harbor freight one would be your best bet. Get the extended service plan/replacement plan for the extra ten bucks. This is the one I purchased, and they periodically have it on sale for $70 less than the listed price (just keep a look out for the coupon):

Keep in mind that while a normal sears jack may fit under your jacking point while the tires are inflated, won't when you have a flat. I am just ecstatic not to have to drive up on boards anymore!
