    car timing

this is probably a dumb question but i have been workin on this for the past few day and been replacin stuff but its not helping. my car will jump time 180 deg. every time i get it lined up and try to start the car. when i get every thing lined for the timing and the tensioner tightened up and start the car i will go up to about 4500 rpm's and the shut off. need some opinions on what to do.

Have you replaced your tensioner? It sounds like it's failing and allowing the belt to slip.

Have you done a compression test to make sure you don't have any damage? Usually if the timing belt slips or breaks, pistons can meet valves.

yea loud92CB7 is helpin me with my car and he said that he has the tools to check the compression but i couldnt find it to do it myself and i might be able to pull the tensioner off the old motor to see if that will help at all.

If the belt is slipping, the tensioner is most likely the culprit... unless you have the wrong belt, or did something strange to your engine.
