How do I take the head off

Iv gotten the valve cover off.. now where do I go? lol Sorry for the noobiness. What exactly do I have to take off to get the whole head off so I can put another one on without taking the motor out?

Also is it safe to leave the vc off with the hood closed? Will moisture ruin the motor?

Coolant lines, fuel line, wiring, head studs etc... Id recommend a manual for you... Even a $15 hayes would help you.
