Do a leakdown test, gives you more information than compression test anyhow. You need air compressor, appropriate gauge equipment and basic hand tools. I've read results of 10% or less is considered "good" for used engines, but 5% or less is ideal. In general the less the better. 0-3% is a common range for new engine builds.
I'm going to buy an h22 engine but i want to know how to do a compression test with engine out the car?
i had the same problem so i stuck a flywheel clutch tranny and starter on the bitch hooked up a battery straight to the starter and cranked the bitch over. got 210 and 215 out of a f22. pretty good i thought. and what should a h22a4 psi be?
you can do a compression test with an engine out of the car. all you gotta do is CRANK the engine your self. your just checking it mechanically.
