best way to completely clean intake manifold?

well my car is failing smog so i got a complete h23 intake manifold

i was wondering what was the best way to clean the intake manifold.. i am going to seperate runner iab plate and plenum but and get new gaskets for everything.. but while its off whats the best thing to do to clean the runners and plenum

carb/choke cleaner with brush?
gasoline and brush?

and also why is the egr ports on the h23 intake manifold not like the f22 ones? it looks like it has like jbweld or something on them or idk

kerosene in a big enough bucket to fit the manifold.
let it sit for a few days.
then scrub a few here and there.
then rinse with warm water.
then air dry outside.

i dont believe in using deliberate combustibles for soaking manifolds. they work but i think its dangerous to soak in a buket of kerosene, plus you ruin all that kerosene.

mix a batch of warm water and a strong degreaser like purple clean or that green clean stuff. let it soak and then touch it up with a brush and tb or brake cleaner. then let it dry.

i have the h23 manifold for mine and im not sure about the egr ports either. id say drill them and get some plugs for the holes.

yeah im all sketchy about doing this to my IM lol.. and i really want to know about the egr ports cuz they dont look like f22 egr ports looks like there is stuff on top like jbweld or sumthing

Someone plugged the EGR ports with JB weld. That's why they look like there's JB weld on them.

Best way to clean it is to take it to a shop and have them hot tank it. You can even have it sandblasted if you want a really good clean.

i shaved them down and got to the whole.. now i gotta figure out what to do to close them since i dont want to put egr plugs and i dont want to weld them shut.. and i dont know if there is enough meet to drill tap and put setscrews
