    HIGH rpm on highway or usual?

    I drive a 90 ex sedan.

    when im on the highway going about 70mph, im at about 3-3.4k rpm, is that to high? Or is my tranny F^d up? My car runs fine, did a replacement on the o2 and got rid of all cel codes. i know that wont cause high rpm or anything but it is quite loud at 3k. im used to my parents car idling 2.5k or so at 70mpg, but then again there cars are 2009 and up.

    someone can correct me if im wrong on any of these but i drive a 4dr 93 lx, and here is what i remember because i stare at my rpm too much.

    55 mph = 2000 rpm
    63 mph = 2500 rpm
    70 mph = 3000 rpm
    76 mph = 3500 rpm

    if my memory serves me right, then this is correct, although i have been wrong before.

              if you have an H series 5spd trans, at 80mph you should be at 4k...just throwing that out there

                It's an auto guys sorry about that, and wed, what do you mean? I dont know to much.

                You know how if you downshift to 3 or so on an auto and let off gas, the car rumbles and rpm slowly drops and when you press gas it jerks you.
                But I thought if you were on your last gear and let off, it doesnt do that? It's almost as if I had 1-2-3-4-D, im always on D(4) but it seems like im on 4 and theres still d to to, hope you guys somewhat get that.

                  All speeds are in 5th gear, 93 Stock Lx 5speed tranny, stock f22a1. Tires are 205/60 15.

                  3700 rpm at 95 (est. to actually be 90)
                  3200 rpm at 82 (actual speed 80)
                  2900 rpm at 75 (est.)
                  2750 rpm at 70 (est.)
                  2150 rpm at 55 (est.)
                  1600 rpm at 40 (est.)

                  Smaller diameter tires will result in your rpm's being higher at the same actual speed (your speedo will show you to be traveling faster then you really are), larger tires will result in the rpm's being lower at the same actual speed (your speedo will show you to be traveling slower than you actually are).

                    throw this is the mix... i have a f20a8 cb3 and i must have a different gear box as standard, as mine figures are

                    in 5th

                    2500rpm=56mph
                    2800rpm= 60mph
                    3000rpm= 65mph
                    3200rpm=70mph

                    215/45/17 tyres

                    all you manual guys seem to run low rpms

                        Indeed, this humbling noise I hear is annoying.

                          i'm on M2B4..basically,its all about tranny's ratio..ratios for the F series are longer than H's..

                            I forget the exact RPM automatics are at HWY speeds, but it is low 3000's. They are 4-speed automatic transaxles. There is probably an electro-hydraulic problem with yours, investigate. Are there any tranny codes?

                            Reference "technical" section stickies for tranny code breakdown sheet.
