    clutch pedal problems???

my clutch pedal started acting up yesterday.
the clutch pedal is really loose and when i push it to try and change gears
i cant change the gears and the pedal gets stuck at the floor.
i look in the clutch fluid resevoir and there is none. and i looked under the slave cylinder i think and there is fluid under there does any one know what it could be.

if the pedal stays to the floor its probably the clutch damper ass., id put some fluid in, have someone pump the pedal and look for leaks on the damper and the slave cylinder

If you pull off the rubber on the Slave Cylinder, and it has fluid there and leaking, then you must replace the Cylinder.

follow the rubber line from the tranny/slave to the round unit mounted to the frame

If you have an air compressor (to push the piston out of the existing slave cylinder once you have it off the car) then you can rebuilt your existing slave cylinder for around $12. If you don't have an air compressor or don't want to spend the 15 minutes rebuilding will take, then just buy a new slave cylinder for around $25.

EDIT: if you wrap the slave cylinder pushrod with duct tape you may be able to grap it with vise grips to pull the pushrod and the pushrod seal out without using compressed air, and without damaging the sides of the pushrod with the vise grips. In which case you can rebuild the slave cylinder without the use of compressed air.

I've done it with compressed air since I have it. But maybe this way would work too.

If you're going to try it, get a rebuild kit AND a new clutch slave cylinder, so if you can't get the slave cylinder apart for a rebuild you have a replacement part at the ready.
