I paid about 50 bucks for mine (local autoparts store). I had to take the hub and bearing assembly to a friend's shop with a bearing press to press the bearing off and press the new one onto the hub. Have fun!

can anybody tell me if in fact you have to take it to a shop with a bearing press??? i was quoted $200 for the part and labor to replace my front passengar side bearing. i know online the part runs around $50. but if it is impossible to change on my own, i guess i have no choice. somebody help please!

i say take it to a shop but see if the bearings you can get cheaper at the other place and leave it at that. Also the bearings on that joint is rusted i wouldnt even bother to attempt it they have to heat it up and use air tools constantly on it it cost me 375 to do that change the bearings ,rotors and breaks front and rear . Im thankful thats money well spent to avoid the headaches later on to come and comes with a 6 month warrantee.

if the bearing has been bad for a while theres a good chance u will need a new hub. If u wanna save money then just bring the knuckle to the shop not the whole car. BTW id recommend changing the 12pt bolts(4 of them) that go through the bearing with 6pt, just because they are usually siezed or rounded off.

Sorry to go off Topic here but, would this be the type of press one would need in order to press out the wheel bearing?

Cause if this is all we need I might just go aheard and purchase one. Please someone let me know.

That's the kind my local dealer used to press mine. It took him 15 Minutes each and they charged me 1.5 hours of labor. There is an expensive tool you should buy if you plan on doing more than one or two. Once you press the bearing off the hub, there is an inner race that gets stuck to the hub by design. The guy at the dealer just used a cutting wheel to get it off. The SM calls for a "special tool" that you put in the machine that grabs the race and gently pry's it off.

One thing i'll say about special tools... they are VERY expensive, but they can be a life-saver sometimes.

Most Car repair places will do it. Make sure you know what you are doing, I ran up a very large bill due to going in blind. I bought 2 from Autozone and the blew apart on the dealer when the tried installing them. Be careful who you buy from, you will get what you pay for. Also, Autozone wouldn't let me return them. Otherwise, make sure you have the right tools and a TON of patience.

                            Peace Bro

Definitely true. I got my front left replaced and still there is noise. Now, I have to buy a hub and bearing from the dealer, let them press the bearing in, then take the assembly to a repair place in which I am still looking for.

Get the hub replaced with the bearing, this way its done once.
