[soapbox]Just go replace your tumbler and stop thinking of halfassed remedies. Even if you're out of a car for a day with it at a shop, I'm sure you could get a lift to your work/school/flophouse from a family member or friend. You're going to be OK without your car for a day.

Money doesn't grow on trees in your neighborhood? They don't here either. Get a lift to a salvage yard and find a wrecked CB7 and get the key/tumbler from them. Taking a salvage car apart will give you a good idea of what you have to do to your car.

Still sound like too much work? Tough. Suck it up. Cars aren't free. Keep in mind these cars are at best 12 years old to 16 years old. Things break. Be prepared to have to spend actual money to have things fixed.[/soapbox]

I've said my piece. I'm done.

While I somewhat agree with your post, I still think it's uncalled for. I sympathize with him. Right now, there is NO possible way I wouyld be able to get a tumbler replaced, even on the cheap. Perhaps, like me, he just lost his job, has two kids to feed, and just had his bank try to charge him $300 + in negative fees (which is another story, they are retarded). With NEGATIVE in the bank, its a little difficult to fix a sudden issue with your car that you NEED to try to get another job. Not everyone has someone to help them out with rides either.

Just sayin. We don't know everyone's situation, and it seemed a little harsh.

On the flip side, though, if you are just too lazy to do it right and wanna ghetto it then of course that advice is good.

put your key in the tranny lock (lock down by the shifter, just push your key in and pull it into neutral)since its an auto and put in in neutral and try and starting it.. if it starts than shut it of and you will be ok.. sounds odd but i did that once and it worked lol
You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.-visualpoet
