    oil gauge.

well since i had oil preasure problems a while back, and after reading another thread with a oil preasure problem on a h22, now i am scared shitless,,, it made me realize that i need a oil preasure gauge. just for the oil... i don't wanna go with the dummy light anymore. i don't know on what psi that light is set to come on and i don't wanna know.

so i started looking for a gauge,,, but the thing is that i don't know shit about oil preasure gauges.

so what is a good gauge???? mechanical or electronic ones. let me know.
and if someone has any info on how to install it<<<that would be great.
and don't go all crazy with the prices. i want a decent one that can do that job etc...
oh its for a f22a engine.
    thanks k.
all the ideas would reall help. so don't keep anyting back.

There really isnt anything to "know" about oil gauges when you choose to get one, except that you really want an electrical oil gauge, NOT a mechanical one. Mechanical oil gauges require you to run a line from the motor to the gauge in the car, so, if for any reason the line cracks, breaks or whatever, youll leak motor oil into your cabin. Electric gauges are the way to go for a street driven car. You hook up an oil pressure sending unit to the block of your motor that determines the psi of the oil, and run a lead and ground that activate the backlight of the gauge. Thats it. The installation instructions from Auto Meter gauges are pretty fool proof, I had one installed on my F22A4. If youre looking for price comparisons, just look into it. I think i got mine for $50. Not a deal or anything, but thats average for the Auto Meter brand I think.

I stole all the wiring for my gauge from the cruise control hookups; switched 12 and illumination. I bought a VDO setup, electric gauge and dual sender; one output for the dummy light and the other for the gauge. I mounted mine on the a-pillar using a pod meant for a 94-00 teg. Had to reshape it a bit with a heatgun but it fit pretty well straight out of the box.
