Battery Draw

Quick question.

I put a voltmeter to the negative cable and the negative post.

Was pulling like 8.0-11.0

I pull out the alternator fuse and the volts instantly drop..

What do you think this is.

first, voltmeter should be across negative and positive (i will assume this is what you meant)
second, was the reading taken with engine running, or off?
third, are there any problems that prompted you to perform this check? such as difficulty starting?

Well I bought a new battery . Changed to a remani alternator and my battery is getting drained while the car is off.

Also when im driving the car tack will start acting up and jumpnig my cd player will shut off and on. Lights go dim

The other day I was driving and the car straight up turned off.



But I think I found the issue. Could I have a short in my fuse panel thing that's in the engine bay?

Because I put the voltmeter to the negative post and took off the line that goes to the engine and alternator(One of the black lines that go to the box) and tried that and I didn't get a voltage being pulled.

So could the fuse do it? or maybe the fuse panel?

ugh i changed the fuse and im still pulling the amps off the battery when the car isn't running and ive checked the grounds

what does pulling mean? like the amps are attached to a rope and you are pulling it from the battery?
