car starts then shuts off. confused

Here's the story. the other day i took the valve cover to replace the valve seals(for the spark plugs) and i accidentally snapped one of the four nuts holding the damn thing down. well ive been trying not to drive it, but i had to the other day. well i went into town and did my business then tried to come home.

Well i started the car and she started and i let her sit for a few minutes so she could warm up(it had recently snowed) well after about a minute she stumbled and then shut off(was in park). well i tried to start her and she started went all the way up to 2,000rpms and then shut off. tried 4 more times and did the same thing everytime.

Looked under the hood and there is a little oil coming out from the side where the nut snapped off. so i was wondering if lack of oil pressure might prevent it from running.

Any ideas what the issue might be? any help is welcome.

sounds like you created a vacuum leak. this is being caused by the air being introduced through the valve cover which is being sucked in throught the PVC system.

thats not going to cause it to die though. ive ran engines with the valve cover completely off.

if it is stumbling, it could be a lack of fuel delivery issue. or the timing belt jumped enough where it wont run. sounds like compression should be okay.
