    OEM Shift knob weights

I found something possibly of interest that I didn't know before.

What I have is two OEM shift knobs, that look identical to the naked eye, that I got out of two 90-93 Accords.

Yet, One weighs in at 110 grams and the other weighs in at 150 grams

Did they make different weighted knobs for different trim levels of CB7s? I'm not sure which model CB each came out of but I'm positive that they both came from CB7s

Idk, I just find that interesting.

As for a comparison, my GReddy Traditional Diamond shift knob is 40g heavier than the heavier of the two OEM knobs...coming in around 190g

110g knob on left, 150g knob on right

^^^Knob on right is 40g heavier

yeah I got the lighter one when I did my 5spd swap and needed a boot, so I got the knob with it.

But you think the EX accord 5spds had heavier knobs than LX/DX accord 5spds?

I think thats just dirt lol, I haven't cleaned it really since grabbing it from the JY yesterday. That shouldn't weigh 40 grams though

Unless is one of them a Prelude knob? or are they way diff. looking?

Ive got a hunch that the heavier one is from a 4th gen prelude. That, or it's from a coupe CB7. Honda considered the coupe the sporty form, since they did have amplified side bolsters. Either way, that's an interesting find.

sorry to bump this ancient thread, but I believe this is correct. I got it from a 92-96 prelude shifter after much thought. I had it in my tool box since I had a greddy knob, didn't think anything of it until summer came and the greddy knob was branding the logo into my palm
