    Head Bolts???

just brought me some new head bolts......
got a question tho, i havent looked at the old ones to compare yet, but out of the 10 head bolts is there 1 that is longer then the others, and if so..... what location does it go in (i dont wanna put it back in wrong), i might have to get another haynes manual.

also plan to send them out to be stregthen.

also got me a new valve cover, oil pan, and new honda head gasket....gots to get ready for the track......

i thought they were all the same size..

Why are you going to spend money on making them strong? I THINK they are suppose to be able to stretch, i might be wrong though.

if you got arp studs then i wouldnt waste money on making them stronger.

Yeah, one (i thought is was two..I can't remember) is suppose to be longer. When you look in the head you will see one bolt hole that is mounted higher than the others......It isn't hard to figure out...just refer to the Haynes manual if you have any problems....

i dont have APR, they dont carry them for the f22, i have OEM honda studs and im boostn.
problem with studs i had before was that there were lifting during boost

plus the company that does it is only charging 25bux for all 10, so its worth it

Really? ARP makes no head studs for the F22? I'm sure they should offer something with the right diameter, pitch and length...they're even studs!! It's not like they have to be exact, you just have to have enough thread for the nuts.

I'm going to look into this soon. I want to run ARP head studs and mains, I already have ARP bolts on my forged connecting rods.

Take a look at this, it might help. #13 is what you're asking about. It is longer.

yeah, i heard a lot about the cylinder head lifting during boost...just ask around...
i first heard of it on Superhonda, then on HMT.

the car would drive fine and all during normal operation, even during lil boosting....but when u get on it, the pressure lifts the head a lil, specially if u have worn used studs, and mines havent been replace sense i got the car so who knows if the owner ever had to replace ro move the head.

How much boost are you going to run? You shouldn't have any problems with the head lifting if you stay around the norm for the f-series. Just ask Midnite or AccordR33....

the middle top one. #13 on the pic is longer.i finished mine last sunday. and that is the longer one.

make sure u put them on torque spec when u put them back.this is very important. u should tight them 3 times on torque specs

me, Mid and R33 have been working together as far as providing info to each other...

me and Midnite tried to figure out this problem a while back (have to do a search i forgot the threads name) but it wasnt what we thought so we both came to the conclusion that the head was lifting a lil.

and yes under normal boost it can do this, specially if ur bolts have been used pass there life cycle.
like i said earlier, my head studs have been reused 3 times to my knowledge, who knows how many times the previous owner had the cylinder head remove and installed. and under normal driving say a stock CB7, if u reused the studs, say 1-2 times, it wont cause to much harm....i know, like i said mines been used 2-3 times when i was N/A. but now im boosting and theres ALOT more pressure.

                        and also have a update..........

not having any money to spare (had to use the rest of my taxes towards bills ) i couldnt spare a dime to send them off....so i said fuck it, and installed everything....cars running PERFECT....... Midnite.......no longer have coolant spilling into the over flow tank.........(for others whos about to say its the head gasket...i have another thread showing a photo of the gasket.....and.....it only spit coolant into the over flow tank during boostn)

I agree..... when running with old, used bolts it MAY lift under normal boost conditions....
