    backfire?

ok, well the cb has been "popping" lately. i was doing some "spirited" driving and i slammed through second and third and they all had a pop noise after i let off and engaged the clutch. my friend was following me and he said i was popping a small flame and i was curious, how bad is that? im not against the idea cuz its kind of cool sorta like Evos and STi WRXs are. can i mess anything seriously up?

*edit* this happens evry time over 5.5K rpms in second-fourth

wouldn't know what it is but I can tell you you should be worried and you should have it checked out. Not normal.

Ignition is pre-firing at high RPM ranges. Id recommend bringing to a shop unless you have extensive knowledge of ignition and valve timing. There's alot of possibilities.

          Ok.

First off, is your car stock? Any emission control upgrades?
I'd first recommend by telling you it'd probably be best *not* to hammer on the poor thing.
Does it run rich? Have you checked your ignition timing?
And, yes, if not attended to.
There have been two cases in my experience I've seen scored/burnt exhaust valves which were the causes of backfiring on both a D series and an F. Not common, but still can happen.

          life is good.

my car does the same thing...more like a fireball after 5k..but if i go to 3k and let off the gas it multi pops but no flame...what caused my problem was the distributor to far advanced.

thats what I would guess ^ timing is off and you need to adjust the distrubuter.
