    cruise control doesn't work

just as the title states, my cruise control doesn't work.

i don't think it has worked since the swap was done, but then again i haven't driven it that much since june or what not. it really sucked coming to florida without it, but any idea why it doesn't?

the pump looks pretty straight, i had to bend the part where the line kind of bolts to to get it straight, but i don't know if thats it or not.

i press the button and it lights up but just doesn't hold it there. it looks it's on but it just keeps decelerating.

    any ideas?

The switch will light up no matter what. It could be the vacuum diaphram, or the cruise box. If you bypassed your clutch switch, it will not work since it deactivates the cruise when you hit the clutch. There is a test for the diaphram in haynes/helms, but I couldnt get it to do anything, so not sure if that even works. Thats why I said, screw it. Cruise control might help your foot be a little less tired after a long drive, but you are more likely to not pay attention to the road/fall asleep with it.

I was asking fizz earlier tonight if the cruise ecu is the culprit, I have the stock f22 and I have the same (basically) problem

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Yea, I'm having the exact problem. The cruise button lights up but the cruise will not lock in. I had to drive from Florida to Michigan without it. Aero3685 (Brandon) tried to mess with hit, but couldn't figure it out. I might look into it later, but for now I have other priorities that exceed it. I want to get certain things done before the TN meet in April.

I'll holla back if I hear somethin on it.

Check the cruise diaphram under the hood, make sure the wire connectors are plugged in and all the vacuum lines are connected including the larger one on the bottom that feeds into the canister. Also, pull back on the fenderliner and make sure the canister isn't broken or cracked.

Ok, I wasn't too worried about fixing this before because all I do is city driving.. but I'm driving to Ohio and back so I would like to get this working.

The wires are all plugged in, but the metal thing that has 2 nuts on the throttle style line is kind of bent. What canister are you referring to that could be broken or cracked? I see a line going into the engine bay (to under the car somewhere).. so maybe I am missing something? How many vacuum lines are there in all? I think I checked them all the other day when I was replacing my A/C dryer.

There is a canister thing that is under that cruise control diaphram. There is a bigger vaccum line that looks like it plugs into the bottom of that fenderwell thing. You can see it when you take out the fenderwell liner. Its just a black cylinder the size of a pepsi can.

Im guessing somewhere along the way there is a vaccum leak since your cruise actually engages. The computer is keeping the vaccum at a consistant level, but with a leak, it looses pressure, and the pedal sinks. So check that out.
