    a/c not working

I am working on a friends 08 ram and the high side is at almost (350psi)and i Think it should be at 200 +- 20psi and the low side should be at 15-40psi and its at like 10psi. Dose it have a clogged orifice tube? We let the freon out and didnt pull a vacuum before we recharged it could that couse it not to cool at all?and the are coming out of the vents is hotter then the air outside

I hope when you " let out the freon " you reclaimed it and did not let it out into the open.

Well there is this fitting and I took the plastic safety retainer off and I was spraying it with soapy water (like I did to all of the rest) and I bumped it and it blue apart and is was loud as hell and all of the freon come out so no it was not reclaimed just let out into the air Why do you want to know are you going to send all of the epa hippie's to my door?I dont see how what I did with the freon as anything to do with really anything besides give you/someone a reason to go "bla bla bla thats bad for the Environment"
here is the kind of fitting

          Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I was doing that to try to find a leak because his compressor kept turning off and on so I thot it was leaking freon so the hplp switch was turning it off from low pressure...After it blew apart I WAS ABLE to put it back together and it dose seal but when we recharged it with the right amount of r134a it was way to high on the high side and too low on the low side so I think the hplp switch was doing it because the orifice tube might be clogged and to much pressure was building.

feel to see if there is a temperature difference before and after the orifice tube. The orifice tube (in a non txv system, noobs) is literally a spraying action just like the expansion valve in our cars. You SHOULD feel a temperature difference from warm to cool.

What is the ambient temps and humidity when you told us the high side temps?

You can do a test with the system at static, off. As long as the guage has 50psi you should be able to sniff, set your meter on high to find small leaks.

Feel and touch along all the AC lines, especially on the low pressure sides (bigger tubes). See if you feel any abnormalities like cooler and hotter on one line, that can be a clogged line. Its very unlikley though.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

            Retro!

Well the lines before The orifice tube are hot and at The orifice tube they get cold like they should. It is not leaking. It was like 85out and not humid at all and I am not shure how hot/cold the lines where.I dont see how that has to do with anything tho because it should still cool.If its not a The orifice tube getting clogged then I am kinda stumped on this one.

If Yu feel that the orifice tube is cool after then its not clogged. If you knew much about AC systems then touching can diagnose a system with issues. Temp differences can find cloggs and other stuff.

Thats why I am not shure and asking.I thot it might not be clogged but just restricted. The lines after it get cold but no cold air comes out

So out of the vents, no cold air? You can tell there is a clogged/restriction because the low side slams and the high side rises

The low side was a little bit to low and the high side was really high. The air coming out of the vents would cool a little bit when we would rev the truck up to like 6k and let off but other then that it was coming out a little hotter then the air outside and we where doing this at night.

It turns out it was a bad condenser fan motor...I still dont see why it was not working when we where driving but lol its fixed

Because the ECU actually controls the a/c compressor by monitoring the a/c condenser fan.

Without the signal it looks for..the a/c won't work.

But the fan itself can recieve a signal and not work cause its bad. Im pretty sure there is no piggyback to tell the ecu if the fan is working or not.
