    Bad fuel pump???

I was driving my Se around the block and I shut me SE off to talk to someone and only 2 minutes later I go and try to start it and It would not start.we had to push it back and I had to use my dads red lx cb7 to push it into the driveway. I have spark but when I took the fuel line off and turned the key no gas came out...I think its the fuel pump and if so how do I get to it do I remove the back seat?

Did you check your main relay? If that's fine, then it's probably your fuel pump. You can test to see if you are getting power at the plug near the cap you took off with a multimeter. I forgot the wire colors but you can download the factory manual (do a search and I'm sure it'll come up).

If the fuel pump is dead, you need to drop the tank to get it out which is why you really should do a diagnostic test first.

Get in your car, turn the car on and just listen for the fuel pump. It would make a distinct, but soft hum/buzz for like 2 seconds coming from the rear, specifically the driver side wheel well. Bang on the tank somewhat and see if that helps the fuel pump turn on.

If no sound, AND you've narrowed down other causes, then yes, drop the tank. It's on the driver's side of the tank. There are a few lines by the fuel neck, mounting bolts and held up by straps.

I cant (turn my car on) it just cranks over and dose noe even try to start. Dose that really sound like a mail relay. It was fine then I it just quit. f it is the relay do I have to replace the whole thing or just A thing that plugs in?

The plate I took off was for the float are you shure I cant remove another panel to get to the pump instead of dropping the tank? Shit I would prefer to gust to get a grinder and cut a hole above it.Why the fuck would honda make a access panel for the dumb ass float (they never go bad) and make you drop the tank for a pump? (dumbasses at honda) Shit with moving parts is more likely to fail then a float are you shure there is not a panel?

I need someone that really know what they are talking about. I thot the pump or relay.
My car has seemed like I had to crank it over a few more times then the rest of my cars but not very many since I have got it. When it was running it didnt seem like it needed more gas it ran prefect and had it had alot of power.when I steped on the gas it didnt ever stutter it just would go. what dose it sound like and if it is that relay can somone post a pic of the relay???? Is it one of those black things in the fuse box under the hood

No. Just turn it on (position II). Put the key in. Turn it once. You're not trying to turn anything over, but just turn on your accessories. Your radio will be on -- if that helps.

Please search and diagnose any possibilities, eliminating other possibilities thoroughly BEFORE assuming the fuel pump. Listen for the humming/buzz as soon as you turn your car on (II). I'm just saying -- this would be one way to determine whether it MAY be a fuel pump issue. It either comes on or it doesn't and this will determine your next step to properly diagnose your no-start issue.

And yes, the fuel tank must be dropped -- I've helped changed a fuel pump recently. I HIGHLY discourage cutting any type of service hole, especially if you are using a power tool (Dremel, drill, grinder etc.) because you will create spark by a fuel source!

Well shit if I drop the tank then cut a hole I can bolt a panel back over the hole that way if I need to get to the fuel pump later on.l cant here any buzzing and I cant here the fuel pump.I could not hear the pump befor anyway when I turned the key on. I think this car's fuel pump is super quite. I had a cd5 and you could here the fuel pump while you where driving it.

I just called my brother and he is a honda mechanic and he said the relays never go bad.

Wrong. CB7 main relays go bad all the time, and usually need to be resoldered.

I'd like to know where he is a "honda" tech at so I can never take my vehicle there..... ever.

First off i would like to point out that Sin gave you valid advice and you chose to blast him. Probably not the best idea from someone attempting to get advice.

Here's the quick and messy way to find out if your pump is working or not.
Open your hood, look at your fuel rail, at the end on the driver side located the pressure test port, remove the bolt. Crank the engine over. Fuel spraying all over? Your pump is fine. Fuel barely dribbling out of it? Your pump is toast. No fuel at all? The relay is toast or the pump is toast, OR you've managed to blow the fuel pump fuse some how.

Keep an Eye on my Coupe. Click the Pic

I unbolted the fuel line from the rail and turned the key on all of the way and no gas came out.Is the main relay the thing the fuses go in?
