    overheating

I'm starting to think that my engine is toast.

I previously posted on how when Installed my thermo the temp of the car would rise especially when idling and if left idling it would slowly climb up and up so I've been running with out it. well I tought it might be the sending unit or fanswitch. (i thought the fans were ok but turns out they don't come on as often or when they should) so I got the part and plan on replacing it tomorrow if I can and put the thermo back in.

well I've noticed now that without the thermo it'll still climb up in temp not quite as high but it does get a little past the middle then the fans come on and it climbs down. It only does this in idle when running and stopping normally without the thermo it desnt seem to fluctuate at all.

    what do you guys think?

could you have a small leak in one of your hoses? air in your coolant system?

I do as a matter of fact have a tiny leak on the small short hose that comes out of the top of the thermo housing but i didn't think it would really affect the temperature that much or does it have more to do with keeping pressure in the system??

anyway where would I find that little hose?? do parts stores carry segments I could cut in case I need more?

      thanks guys

Try a radiator flush u could have a perm bubble. Other than that it could be a hair line block crack.

well im going to see if the parts store has some hoses to replace the cracked one and I'm changing the fanswitch as well hopefully that takes care of it..
          thanks

          I will keep you posted

Well if you have a leak there, it could form an air pocket around the thermo and prevent it working properly. And you can't keep your cooling system air free when it has a leak. So yeah fix that.

I don't think your engine is toast.
