    Issue with automatic tranny.

My car shifts good and but sometimes if I sit at a stoplight for to long or drive at one slower speed for a while my car will be in a high gear but when I need to take off Its like the kickdown is not working. when it does it at a stoplight it makes me take off in 4th but If I turn the key off and on really quick (not letting the car die) it will go to the gear it needs to be in and will be perfect, I do have a flashing "S" light.

The TCU (transmission control unit) probably has some leaking capacitors. Mine was doing the same thing and just recently the light stayed on and the car will not shift out of 2nd. 1st and 2nd only.

I pulled my TCU out a few minutes ago and this is what I found

There a couple of cpacitors that are leaking as well but I cant get a decent picture of them with my phone
Here's a really good how to for pulling the TCU

If you have soldering skills its pretty easy and cheap to fix depending on what all is bad on the TCM I suggest pulling it out and looking before spending the money on a new one.

Or take it to a Radio shack and see what they would charge to solder in the couple parts it might need. Radio shack would also have everything you'll need to do it.

I am good at soldering but I would think it would be easier to get another tcm. (picknpull gives me alot of free shit)
How would I know how meany ohm or what ever capacitors or resistors to replace then with if I find them to be bad?
Would I just go to radio shack and get new ones with the same marking and what not?

yup just Google OHM ratting the colored bands are how you tell what OHM they are. Luckily the other thread I posted showed the two resistors I need so I could see what I needed. Those are 15 ohm resistors.
