Speedometer bounces around then stops working

Car: 92 Accord Lx F22a1 manual trans.

Symptoms- Once car has been driving for about 30 min the speedometer will start to jump around from zero to whatever speed I am at. It does this for about 10 min, then the speedometer stops working completely. Within a few minutes of the speedometer failure the check engine light comes on and the car idles high.

I am thinking either something in the cluster, the vehicle speed sensor, or even the ECU. Any ideas ?

it is most likely the speed sensor, because the CEL comes on. to find out for sure: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=21259

That was my first thought. I figure the idle is off because the computer is not getting an accurate reading so its not mixing fuel and air properly.

I have been under my dash for hours, no little blue wire anywhere. Should it be plugged into anything ? Help please, I don't want to spend $100 on a VSS if that's not it for sure.

I had the same issue too awhile back, my issue was that the two little plugs under the dizzy that hook in the sensor on the tranny had become disconnected a little bit. May or may not help you, but it's somewhere to look. But i never got a CEL
