Broken camshaft...

ok a guy is selling a 92 DX coupe 5 speed with a broken cam shaft for $250...Now do you think I'll have to do a valve job as well as replace the cam, buy a new cylinder head, or just replace the whole motor for $400 from the salvage yard. Oh and he said it's possible there are metal pieces in the engine, can I just get a magnetic drain plug or what. Let me know something guys, I really need another car.

Only way you will know forsure is to take the topend off check for piston an valve contact(dented or cracked pistons/Bent or chiped valves).I'd say it probably needs a swap or a rebuild at the very least, an if so a full swap would be much cheaper.

I completely agree. You can get a great running, rebuilt (new TB and W/P) motor for $400- $600 ..
Even less .. maybe even with a tranny .. new clutch? No problem, everything's apart anyway.
Great deal .. that's the route I'd go .. then maybe rebuild the original one and sell it ..
