    Drivers Side Window

I can hear the motor whizzing when I push the button either direction, but the window doesn't move. I'm assuming it's off track or something, but I can't see in there due to the plastic sheeting over the inside of the door panel. Can that be replaced??? Can I just cut through it to get to the window regulator and parts??? WHat did you do in this situation????

So I carefully took the plastic off and everything seems to be on track. It just doesn't make a connection with the motor gear. I can't see it to see if the teeth are still on the gear or not. I guess I'll take the motor out tonight to see if the gear is ok. If it is then I don't know what to do.

I did notice on my lunch break today that if I put a little pressure on the window whether from the bottom when going up, or from the top when going down, it will roll up and down. I can't manually push it with just my hand and it won't roll up or down by itself, but with a little assistance, it'll work. What gives???

had a similar issue like this an the teeth on the moter where a little worn an not grabbing good. To quick fix cause at the time i did not have money to fix i lubricated the window seal where window glides up an down an this worked for me till i could replace motor. Also make sure your guide pin for window is good as this will cause issues to an put window in a bind.

The motor has a plastic gear in it which will wear after time. Also, as stated above, make sure your window guides are in good condition (the little round disk at the top of the window). If those are bad it can cause the same issue all over again.

Thanks guys. I was on my Mitchell 1 program yesterday and noticed that there is a TSB on the 91-92 EX/LX's. The window gear damper inside the motor fails. I'm going to see how much they are. Here's the symptom and probable cause from Mitchell 1:

            SYMPTOM

The front window motor runs, but the window does not move up or down.

            PROBABLE CAUSE

Material on the damper unit inside the motor assembly separates, making the window inoperative.

Until that one goes out. They're prone to failure so unless the one from the junkyard has been repaired before, you only bought yourself some time.
