    Fuel Pump...Possibly?

i dont have a reading on my fuel gauge when i turn the key over. car does turn over but doesnt start. i had my gf turn the key over while i listened for the fuel pump to prime. no sound. could it be more than just the pump? relay or filter? i do plan on changing the pump and filter at the same time. should i change the relay too?

Easy way to check for a fuel issue is spray some starting fluid into the throttle body. If it fires up and runs for a few seconds, you definitely have a fuel problem. Sometimes when the main relay goes bad the contacts inside weld themselves together. You can try to pull it out and knock on it with your knuckle to knock them loose.

will i not get a fuel reading if the main relay is bad? or would it be the cause of a bad fuel pump?

okay so many possibilities of what might be wrong. need to narrow it down some. NO FUEL READING AND FUEL PUMP NOT PRIMING is my two biggest concerns. What would make these 2 problems be the cause of? main relay or bad fuel pump is my two guesses im leaning towards. if the main relay is bad wouldnt it shut down my whole fuel system? making it where the fuel sending unit and fuel pump not work? or am i wrong? would i get a fuel reading if my fuel pump is bad?

check the main relay first. pull it out and take the case off and look for broken/melted solder joints. if thats ok then yes either pump or sending unit.

this is the main relay. doesnt look bad to me. but of course i dont know what the hell im looking for. no fused together solder. no cracks(that i see). after watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viIZ8k60awY im ruling out this isnt my problem.

does anyone see something im not seeing?

well i found the problem. it was a loose connection at my fuel sending unit. some how the connections came loose when i was rearranging my subs in the trunk. thanks to the haynes repair manual i went through the step in checking main relay and all connectors. yay for me!
