1)I have a 92 CB7 with a whole lot of issues. I have been driving her more often because my husband is driving my Civic.
I have started to have issues starting the car. My clutch pedal switch broke so I jumped the connecter to make the car think the switch is being pushed. I haven't felt the need to put the clutch in when I start it and it hasn't been a problem. Last night, I moved my car around at church. It sat for 2 hours and when I tried to crank it to go home, it would start. The engine would turn but it would start. This happened 3 times and then it started up. I thought to myself to put the clutch in when I went out in the morning to start her. I did that this morning and she started up fine. I dropped my kid off at school and was probably inside for about 5 minutes. I come back out to start the car, clutch in, and it wouldn't start on the first key turn. It started the second time. I haven't a clue as to what's causing this half-butt start situation.
Put a junkyard alternator on it back in July and a new rotor button because the old one wasn't doing its job.
2) I have found that everything "feels" good when I shift at 3000 rpms. I was in 2nd gear this morning trying to pass a car so I sped up. The tach hit 3500 and my car started bucking like I had popped the clutch. It felt like there was a force keeping it from going past those rpms. I haven't had this problem in the past. I got to work and parked the car. I put it in neutral and revved the engine to 3500. There was a definite vibration from the front end and it seemed like the engine wouldn't take much power. Back in March, we replaced timing belt and balance belt.
Could the timing have somehow gotten off over these last months of off and on driving, would lack of oil cause this(I haven't checked it in a few days), also have noticed the fan hasn't being coming on after I park it(pretty sure this wouldn't be a factor but I'm throwing it out there). The tach is the only thing that works on the gauge cluster and I'm pretty positive it is accurate. Also, I thought about the synchros. Sometimes, I have to re-clutch to put the car in 1st. The car sometimes randomly jerks even when I'm completely off the clutch and have completed a shift up.
I did read another post here on the forum about the RPM thing and the situation is similar except that my car doesn't bog down or shut off. The car hits 3500 I notice that it's struggling to go anymore so I shift to 3rd. I will check the throttle cable and butterfly plate if the weather permits.
