    H22 dizzy question

I have a 1990 honda accord lx I swap a usdm h22a1 a while back, i barely drive it but when i do it tends to like sputter when i step on it. i recently swapped the alternator (i had the f22 one in there) felt a little better but still does it. Earlier today i was thinking on how i had to convert the H22 dizzy from external to internal coil using my f22 coil to make it work in my car. it got me thinking if theres a difference between the coils? could that be a possiblity why my car is running like that?

The alternator has nothing to do with it, that's for sure.

The USDM H22A1 dizzy should already be external... you must have a JDM dizzy. Anyway, that is also not a problem, as long as it's working properly. Converting to external will only introduce more things that could go wrong (unless you found an external H22A dizzy... just don't do anything custom until you fix the current issue.)

So, first off... is your check engine light on? If so, read the code.
As you describe it, it almost sounds like an o2 sensor issue to me.

Otherwise, make sure your valve and ignition timing are properly set.

Even though theres no CEL for the o2, it can still be going out. I would try and pull a code and see if you get a 43. I had a similar sputter in my car and it was due to the timing being off and a bad plug wire.
