    "BRAKE LAMP" Light ON

    Hey guys,

I have a weird problem. My BRAKE LAMP light on the instrument cluster is on. I checked ALL four (4) of my bulbs plus the 3rd brake light also, and then all works fine. I even bought some bulbs grease to help clean some light corrusion and hope to get better contacts with the bulb terminals and still the dame light goes on when I brake. What else can I do? Checked fuse already. All good. ?????

    Thanks,

    Slam.

    1. Possible aftermarket bulb causing issues, e.g. LED Bulbs, or hyperwhite type?

    2. One of the filaments could be out, on the 1157's?

I had the same problem, and it was due to the wattage being to high on on of the 1157's I purchased.

the surest way is have someone press the brakes or light on and then observe from back, but i guess u did that already..

maybe the connectiosn loose.. do u know which one is giving u that signal?
      hahahahah

the brake light also comes on with a change in fluid level.. check your brake fluid and make sure its at the right level..

hah i dont think the brake light comes on in our cars when the brake fluid is low...but yeah check all the connections on the bulbs. my "brake lamp" light used to go on and off periodicaly as well...but i have no idea what i did to fix it.

I was actually going to post about this same thing. All of my brake light bulb are good and light up, the brakes are nearly new - less than 3000 miles all around.

I'm thinking it may be a fuse that's out. I have to reattach a mudflap in a few minutes, so I'll check the fuses and see if any of them are stressed, or popped and report back.

Actually, I forgot, I've even replaced the third brake light housing, bulb, and wiring harness because the old one in there melted the housing. That worked for about 300 miles, and then the "brake light" warning light came back on.

well you said you checked all the bulbs, welll i had the same problem, it came on, everything was fine, it went off, about 3 days later it came back on, it was due to one of the bulbs about to go out, and one finally did go out...

well, it seems to have been the issue in my case, unless is was a HUGE coincedence.. all my bulbs and everything were intact, my light had NEVER come on before so i checked all the simple shit it might be including fluid.. the fluid level was very low, topped it off, light never came on again..

Some of you guys are confusing the BRAKE light with the light on the diagram of the car. The BRAKE light I believe will light with low fluid. The one on the diagram is just for a "burnt out" bulb.

                              Sensors

Check the sensor boxes which mounted on the outer tailights, which you could gain access to by removing the pannel through the trunk, my freind had a problem like this and didnt fix, then he had a problem getting the car out of park once it started, once he checked it, it was burnt and all he did is buy a replacement, make sure to check both and that they are both plugged in
