    engine knocking????

So recently I've noticed my engine making kind of a knocking. My cars got 106000 miles on it, so is that just coming with age? The oil gets changed regularly, and everything else. So what's going on in my engine, whats making that noise? Is it bad? How bad? Is there anything I can do to correct it?
    Anything to help guys...

Its nothing like a machine gun noise, although it is constant. Its not loud outside or inside the car, in fact, in the car its hard to hear. Its kinda like a ticking-ish noise. I don't know how else to explain really...i'll listen to it some more today and see if i can hear anything else.

Does it happen all the time? Or just when you accelerate? or just when you turn? or what? Are there times that its louder than others... what?

From what I can tell, its pretty constant, and yes it increases as the RPM's increase. I was kinda of thinking along the lines of a valve adjustment. Is this a major problem that needs addressing right away or what? Also, is a valve adjustment a difficult undertaking?

valve adjustment is not hard but hard to be done right if this is the frist time u do it, unless someone beside u has done it before.
Theres a thread on this and the problem is how tight it should be....
                  hope that helps

Check out the sticky on manuals and find the one for valve adjustment.

hondas are known to make noises beacause they are rockers not rollers. but it weems like a valve adj. issue also.

yes it could be valves, but what part of the engine is the noise comming from? A while back my car made a constant noise and was faster paced under acceleration, it turned out that a bearing in my distributor went bad and it caused it to make a knocking noise that wouldn't stop.

hmm...i'll have to check that out...was it a knock, or more of a ticking, and how loud and noticable was it?

I know that sound my car had around 195,000 mile on it when it started get a valve adjustment, and if you still had that sound after that time to do a rebuild.
