    Spark Plug Replacement

hey, i want to replace the spark plugs in my 91 exr, ive never done it before, so i need a few answers. first, i want to replace the ones i have now with some really good ones. something that isnt like 20$ a plugs, but rather 35$ for 4. also, what is the model that CB7's need? and using better spark plugs, will it damage anything interanlly? thanks

btw, i was considering buying the iridium ones, anyone have any luck with these?

and can someone post a step through on removing the spark plugs and replacing them!

i know this is a noob question, but i dunno how to do it!

YES, NGK VPOWER. Don't bother to waste your money on IRIDIUMS, or whatever... When you don't gap properly, or you use some funky ones that mess things up. I know for sure and in my experience on my other car, my nissan they had autolites and ever startup there'd be smoke, (and not it wasn't no leaks, gakset or stuff like that).. Turned out autolites caused it, becuase i put teh NGKs in and everythign was gone, all was good. oh well...

*crap stupid internet messed up my reply.

    BASICALLY:
    4-NGKS VPOWER, GAPPED CORRECTLY.

Remove the wires w/ strength, use your tool (i forgot the size, do a search) and counter clock wise to get the feel, MAKE SURE you know how it felt so when u put it backk in, you know how tight it should fairly be.

I do mines snug-tight, then give a 1/4 or less turn. I then loosen it again to see if I can get the feel as I first did when taking it off. Then I finally tighten it. (that's just me when i first did the plugs).

*ALSO Make sure u know where each plug wire goes, just incase.

** if you do do it, your next post will be, how come i have oil on my plugs.. .. oh well good luck and welcome aboard..

I have NGK OEM double platinums in mine and am very pleased. They run $10 a plug but I got all four for $10 due to stupid advance auto counter people.

And if you want to verify the part number, it's ZFR5F-11

Why is that? Why would there be oil on the plugs?

i am pretty certain that there will be leaks, and the tube seals need to be changed.

i didn't change mines yet, because i don't have the tools to really do the job. i dont want to mess with it, if i can't torque to the correct specs and what not.

I highly suggest that if you replace your lower spark plug tube seals because you have oil in the spark plug tubes, put Hondabond or something equivalent with the O-ring to help create a very good seal. Installing new O-rings alone will be prone to leaks in the near future, I know this from experience. The #2 spark plug tube will generally leak first because of the oil passage that is near it. HIGHLY suggested, otherwise don't waste your time doing it half-a$$, it will start to leak again slowly and just get worse as time goes by.

thats the thing though some cars only need a valve cover gasket and the uper O rings. but since its a 14 year old car then it might be the lower ones too.

my friend has a 92 ex with 180k on it and he drives it hard. he only had to replace the upper ones and he has no leaks what so ever now.
then again my old dx had 120k in it and needed the lower ones after i replaced the uper ones. lol

hey, im pleased with the responses, i was also looking at the vpower ones too, so thanks for the product codes n step through! also, i havent installed the new ones yet, but just last weekend Honda dealership replaced my vavle cover gasket thingy becuase there was an oil leak that spread to my spark plugs...which wouldnt let me start my car! stupid canadian tire junkies . so i know that Honda only cleaned the spark plugs, so i dont trust them, and want newones! thanks
