    Skipping? Misfiring? Predetonation?

How can you tell the difference between all the different sounds a poorly firing motor will make?

    what u mean about skiping
missfiring is when sometimes the car feels like its gona die for a sec. like it will work on 3 pistons just for a second or all the time. if it missfires in more then a cilinder then its gona die.
predetonating<<<<<<<<bad very bad for the engine.

hard to say without hearing, feeling it. make sure youve got your basics replaced.

Ya, just finished with new plugs, new wires, new rotor and dizzy cap.

It was missing due to the crap-ass Autozone plug wires I had, replaced with some snazzy NGKs.

But the whole thing got me thinking, we always talk about what sounds a car makes when it hurting, so what are the engine sounds?

Missing I get, the motor 'hops' for a second. Not really a sound but a symptom.

I know what dieseling sounds like, a lopey, knocking/popping noise.

So what about predetonation? What does that sound like?
