pistons are out of the block but the wrist pins seem to be pressed in to the rod.is there a back yard way to pop the wrist pins, swap rods over to a new ish rod and pop wrist pin back in with out damage.

Why don't you take the current piston/rod combination and the replacement rod up to a shop and have them press the old one out and the new one in? That can't be expensive just to swap them over.
