    a/c help

ok my a/c had a small leak somewhere and i couldnt find it. i went to autozone and bought a can of super seal. charged the system added the can and leak stopped. a/c was blowing cold everything was working low side 35 hight side 150. about 15 minutes later the clutch stopped. by then low side 70-80 high side 150-160. i used a cotter pin to jump the high and low side switch to see if that was the problem nothing hapened. under the dash was a 7.5 amp clutch relay fuse. it was blown. replaced the fuse and not the green light on the a/c button of the conrol unit doesnt light up and clutch still doesnt cut on. any ideas?

It seems like you know what your are doing. There's a thread few rows down on here I posted wiring diagram of A/C system. Check that out to aid in troubleshooting.

Did you convert the system to R134a? I believe all of our accords came with R12 from the factory. You can't mix R134a and R12, when you do the two mix and gel up. It's possible that that is what has happened here, ruining your compressor, causing the clutch to lock up.

try jumping the compressor manually and connect the fans just so you can check that you're pressures are fine

150 on the high side is low, should be past the 200-220s depending on the weather

first make sure the mechanical part of the a/c is fixed, then move to the electrical part

how long has the a/c not worked on this car?

It is almost impossible to mix those freons due to different shape fittings used for different types of freon. You'd have to fabricate hoses and fittings in order to mix them.

You can buy fittings for maybe $15 at the store. He said he charged it, and as R12 is expensive and difficult to come by, I assume he charged with R134a. He'll have to clarify to know for sure.

It was probably low or empty on oil and he fried the compressor.
But since the ac light does not come on then check wiring, maybe the switch is bad.

A/c already been retrofit. I have gauges and 30lbs r134a can. Correct. U cannot mix up r12 fitting with r134a they completly different. A/c was working before leak happened. I need to replace the condensor just was trying to buy a little time for funds and weather. I have a power probe so I did check to see if the clutch was working I heard it clicking so I know the clutch is good. The compressor was running made no noise, grind, humm, or whistle. It just cut off and that's when I noticed the green light not coming on and a blow 7.5 amp fuse which I replaced under the dash. I do beileve its electrical.

ok oyajicool u seem to be my help today. From the look of the diagram I could have a bad clutch relay but I'm not sure where its located.

The diode in question must be within the A/C switch since the is enclosed in the dots/broken line on wiring diagram.

U are a life saver. I have no idea where u got the schematic or flow chart but u saved me a headache. All these years I owned about 4 cb7's and never knew they were relays smh. Good news is that I had them in my racer with no a/c and it solved my problem. Good looking out.
