car wont start

my car is an accord 91 carburetor,i already bought a new starter,battery is still in a good condition,when i try to start the car dashlights are on but no cranks,its like there is no power to the starter,i start it directly from the starter and the car starts immediatly,what could the cause?is it the wiring?

stick or auto ...?

If auto could be neutral safety switch, if stick could be one of the clutch pedal switches (there is 2 )...

Need a little more info for better diagnostic answers...

its an auto..sometime it could start up but most of the time i have to start it directly from the starter..
