Idle confusion

So heres my story....My friend has a 92 ex with the f22a6. Awhile ago he had idle surges started off not that bad then started spiking 2grand. One of my other friends had a fast idle laying around, we put it on and it fixed the problem. Couple weeks later same thing happened. Since my cars just sitting we put my iacv and fast idle on his car and the problem is still there. note mine is a lx....idk if that matters or not so thats my first question. we checked his antifreeze looked for leaks cant find nothing. Any ideas what could be the problem?

Try opening up the top of the fitv and tightening the doughnut down, some people say until the problem goes away, I tightened it down until it was tight on both my cbs with no issues.
