    Starter

I just recently replaced my alternator on my 92 and everything was running fine for about a day. The car would have a starter click and not start 80% of the time. I got by this work week by using the "back to the future" pop start to get me to and from work.

This morning I was able to look into my ground connections. I replaced my terminals with the alternator and redid the grounds at the same time as diagnosis to know it was the alternator. I took off the ground clip on the starter as I read on here and cleaned it up with a wire brush. I pulled back the 12v constant connector from the starter and saw it was on fingertight! No way it was making a good connection! Problem Solved right? Not so much!

However while tightening down the old worn factory starter bolt snapped! Should I just buy a new starter? I think there might be enough thread to get on a thinner 12mm nut to at least get me to work in the meantime! I work long days and don't have a day off until Sunday! Is the thread able to be extracted from the starter? I need opinions. I don't really have the time or money for another week.

    Thank you for your help!

My Solution: Took off starter this morning at sunrise 7:25am. I Used some wire cutters to clip the surround around the post of the starter. Removed the retaining nut (much thinner) from the starter. Secured the 12V constant from the Battery to the shortened post and with the crop cut on the starter used the thinner nut. Problem Solved. The last year I've had this car it always started a little slower than I thought it should. Now it starts up like a PRO!
