Rusty fuel lines - third line what?

When I got my car it had a rusty return line, right behind the rear driver side wheel. I wrapped it in some automotive adhesive as a temporary solution until I could replace everything. Well time went by and it held up really well, so I let it be. But lately the other lines began to rust and I realized it was time to fix it somewhat proper.

Short of replacing the lines completely (which involves dropping the tank and tearing everything apart) so I decided just to cut the rusty parts and put fuel line hoses and clamps. Both the feed line and the return line came off in my hands with little effort, but the repair went pretty smoothly. Running, revving, everything is tight and in its place.

I then saw what I thought was a brake line was actually not. It was running parallel to the fuel lines and was clean, not rusted at all, but had a small hole in it. Inside this line is dry and clean, so no fluids are running through it, and the car runs great so I let it be. I'm going to assume its a fuel vent pipe, I don't know what the function is but what should I do here? Should I fix the hole? Should I let it be? What are the pros/cons of each? Is it critical, or can it wait a week or so?

Thanks in advance, I'm scratching my head over here.

It can wait, it just basicly for fumes. Don't get them mixed up when they go back on or bad things will happen. Took my car to a mechanic and he mixed up the vent and the return lines and I ended up with 83kms to a tank, before I dropped the tank myself and followed the lines and hooked em up the right way at the end of it it was spewing fuel from the evap overflow up front and off the top of the tank aswell. Basicly gonna have to drop the tank completely and figure out what is wrong now myself. Luckily they didn't get rid of the old tank so I have all of those parts.

Thanks! Yeah I made very sure not to mix up those lines.. i could only imagine how horrible that might be. As of now the car only does short trips thru my town every other day or so. I'll get around to closing this line sometime next weekend

[edit] ps, lived in nova scotia 14 years, never ever trusted a mechanic there.
