    Ps System Malfunction

For some reason my Powersteering system pushes the fluid out the refill container everytime i fill it up. Sits on half full and performs poorly, not sure if its the pump or if I have air in the lines.....any ideas???

Do you have leaks? The system can't pressurize if you do.

If not- you have to bleed the system.
Start with a half full container- with the car ON and turn the wheel back and forth as far as it will go about 4 times, the level in the container should drop. Add fluid, and repeat the process, until the level doesn't drop.

On occasion I have had a stubborn system not want to bleed correctly. I do it normally like ladyg said.

When a system is being a bitch to bleed I pull the return line to the res and set it up to flow into a jug. As the res level drops I add fluid until the fluid going into the jug stops spitting. I usually cycle 2 quarts of PS fluid when doing this.

The return line is the one that has a circlip on it. The feed line is a high pressure line.

look for ps leaks. if there are none get a good seal kit and rip that pump apart and replace the seals. thats what i had to do to mine.
