Hood wont pop open?

Wassup guys. well this morning i tried popping my hood and when i pulled the thing down by the pedals i noticed the hood didnt pop open and tried it several more times. No open. So i stuck some needle nose pliers in between my grill and popped it open manually. Now im rolling Grille-less and its cool and all but its scary that just anyone could pop my hood open.

What could be the cause of the hood not wanting to pop open?? Broken cable?? I tried searching but couldnt find an answer. Thanks for your time!

The first thing I would do is check the cable sometimes they break happened to me when I got my cb and also while u have your hood popped open have someone in the inside pulling the handle to see it the latch will move
