    Setting base timing on h22a

Is the process the same for setting base timing on the h22?
I only ask because the dizzy seems to be mounted upside down. Which makes me think the adjustment would be backwards from the f22. Is this correct?

It still rotates the same direction, therefore, it still adjusts the same direction.

Thanks. I just got to thinking about it and it seemed like it could be backwards

Ok. So basically the car does not run like I think it should. It will run up to 6500. Thats the highest I've got it. I wasn't going to go that high but.

It runs like it needs to be blown out for lack of better word.

I have checked the timing. With a gun its set at TDC. Problem is the distributor is all the way advanced. I have no more room to move it to more advance.

When I installed the timing belt. Everything was dead on. When I tightened the belt. The intake cam was off some.. The guy that is fabbing my PS line used to be into hondas. He said I should have retarded the Intake cam 1 tooth then tightned it down. He explained why And it makes sense.

I didn't adjust the valves because I couldn't get a wrench down in the head. So i skipped that. If the intake cam is retarded and leaving the valve open longer would a valve job fix this? Or do I have to redo the timing belt. What a bitch that will be.

All parts are new. plugs dizzy, wires, Oil looks super clean. So clean its hard for me to read it off the dipstick..

I don't think its the motor. well I mean not a bad motor anyway.

If anybody has any input thanks.

It runs the same on the s300 and the p13. P13 just has the 22 code for no vtec pressure switch.

I am running the stock OBD2 injectors and that has me wondering some too.

        thanks in advance

I would bet your problem is in your timing. The valve adjustment would give itself away audibly. If you have loud ticking in the head it's usually a good sign you need to adjust valves.

But seriously, check the timing. Watch a few videos of people doing it first and notice the steps they take. Don't listen to your Honda buddy getting a stock engine to run on a factory tune for the first time. Just get it timed as if it were stock and be on your way.

The fact that you have the dizzy advanced all the way to get the ignition timing to be set at tdc is a clear indication your physical timing is off.

              Thanks

              Thats what I thought.

Jarrett. The valves are super quiet. No noise from the engine that would make me think valves.

Oh this shit won't be fun to do on the car. It was tough enough on the engine stand.

So today after work I decided to tackle the timing issue. What a damn mistake that was I should have waited till Saturday. It took me about 4 times of tightening and loosening and tightening again. For some reason timing belts and me don't get along.

I tried putting drill bits in the cams. Tightened it up. Look down at the crank. Its moved. Well lets try retarding the intake cam. OOps I advanced it.. Finally in the end, What always happens to me happened. I put it back together tightened it used nails this time to hold the cams as before one of the drills broke in the cam. And guess what it worked. Thats right I don't know what the hell I did different. Anywho It is no at 15deg tdc. I had adjust the idle way back as you would think since I was so retarded before.

No test drive. Tonight its way past my old ass bedtime.

As always thanks for the help.
