Car Jerks when Drive is engaged.

    1993 Automatic:
When in park and dropping the transmission (Automatic) into [D] the car would jerk forward with my foot pressed on the brake. I would get a slight jerk when placing it in [R] but no where as harsh as when engaging [D].

The Front and rear motor mount where just replaced as this was thought to be the issue, transmission level was check as well and the shifting has improved but I'm still getting that jerk maybe once or twice as opposed to every single time the Car was placed into [D], No where as near as harsh as before but I'm totally stumped on what else it could be.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated because this thing is driving me nuts after spending the money to replace motor mounts

    Thanks in Advance.

Does it happen when the car is not fully warmed up?

Happens when it's warm or cold. I was thinking it might be the shift solenoid

mounts could have gone bad again, have a buddy sit in the car while you watch with the hood up, have your friend stand on the brakes and put it in D then R a couple times, if the motor moves you have bad mounts. look for other worn suspension components while youre doing this, maybe something with the struts or ball joints went bad, since the car can jerk when the brakes holding everything still, the torque will move other things..

I replaced the rear and front motor mount yesterday. So I'm lead to believe its something else.. The front end feels sturdier when driving down the road, idk if the motor mounts would help with this but u have noticed a difference in stiffness

But like i mentioned I'm going to try and preform a test on the Solenoids.

Did you even check the other two motor mounts?

Mine does the same thing but it seemed to help a little with a fluid change and idle adjustment and I replaced the motor mounts. It shifts overall smoother too.

Yes of course, the main objective was to replace any and all worn motor mounts and the rear and front were the ones that needed replacing. The side mounts do fail but very rarely.

No idle adjustment just the replacing of motor mounts and topped off the fluid. Car does feel a lot smoother than before and the front does feel slot stiffer but like I mentioned I still get that jerk 1-2 times out of every shift engage into [D]

Rear mount. Mine has been doing this since I got it. It's not better or worst.

The rear mount was just replaced as stated as which is why I'm stumped.

Did you get the right rear mount? Auto vs. manual make a difference...

It could just be a bad mount, they aren't always good when you buy them new.
