Dawn works great. I left a valley pan off a SBC intake soaking in dawn/water mix in my parts tank for 4 days. This pan was coated in caked on carbon, burnt oil shit. I was just wiping the stuff off with a rag earlier, the stainless came out clean with minimal effort.

BTW I've left many manifolds and aluminum parts soaking in PP, no damage to them like that guy had in your link. No even a mark on machined parts. My latest TPI manifold came out with a gray haze on it after the brief (2 hour) PP soak. That was not a problem as I had planned to paint it anyways. So obliviously keep it away from any polished aluminum parts as well. Stick with the Dawn/water mix to be safe.

Did you dilute the PP? The bottle comes concentrates yet I could never find the instructions on the back on how to dilute it.
