    vac. line #3 broken?! help!

So i finally got outside and was getting ready to do my FITV and IACV when i noticed the top port (not at the MAP box) that #3 connects to is busted off, clean off.

#3 connects to the top of the evaporative canister, my question is, is there anything i can do to fix this until i can find and purchase a used canister?

So that would be cap off line #20 @ the T/B.
what about #3 tho? its just hanging off of the MAP box, do i want to cap that aswell?

would this have been the cause of my idle problems?

#20 doesnt seem to run from the canister, its a large red braided hose that connects to a port next to the base idle screw on the T/B, is this still what i need to cap off?

Will a slightly larger diameter bolt threaded into the #3 hose thoroughly cap it off?

i was just asking a friend of mine what the red hose is for the other day!

yes you can cap it off with a bolt. i would fold it over on its self and zip tie it for a temp fix. that should fix the idle issue because it is a vaccum leak. cap it off and fix it ASAP

                    Wtf?

Ok guys so i capped off where the red line attatches to the T/B and then capped line #3 and tried to start the car, REFUSED TO START!

I dont know why or how so I just un did the caps and put it back the way it was, i pulled the back up fuse and now it starts and idles perfect even under load of AC & lights.

So why would restarting the ECU make it run right again, and why in the hell did my car not start when it was capped?!

Drove her around the block, still problematic!

every time i roll down the hill in neutral with the clutch in it jumps to 2000rpm and then it'll hang at 1600rpm at stop signs for about a second now and then drop to 1000rpm

I dont get it and its really getting to me that i cant fix it...

When I un capped the previous port (the large port that the red hose off the charcoal canister connects to) and removed the plug in line #3 and re started the car, it was pissy to start. I reset the ecu with the back up fuse and it started, idled @ 2000, dropped to 1500, then 1000. all in a very nice fashion.
HOWEVER when i was under the hood the #3 line was pushing air out of it, I thought it should be pulling in?

read a little more, and i need to know:

Do I cap the port that vac. line #20 goes onto @ the T/B? instead of the port the red line coming off the charcoal canister attatches to?
the #20 line attatches to the "purge cut-off solenoid valve" inside the black box on the firewall that contains the MAP sensor.

according to the diagram i found, the #20 line runs from the "manifold port" to the "purge cut-off solenoid valve" out of said valve labelled as "#3" leading down to the charcoal canister's "purge control diaphragm", this line (#3) is the line that is not connected due to the canisters "purge control diaphragm" upper nipple being snapped off.

When capping off said port @ the T/B for line #20, do I also need to cap line #3 coming out of the "purge cut-off solenoid valve"?

thanks for any answers in advance, im praying you guys can help me figure this out!

Why can't you go get another box from the junk yard?

I didnt have any money but I finally got the cash and went to the junk yard, the first one i went to wanted $80 and i blew up in his face over it and left,
I called a junkyard here in Pendleton, $20 i'm gonna be giving them all my buisness from now on

So here in a couple hours ill pick up the canister and get down to replacing it on the car, I'll let you guys know if that resolves the idle issue
