    h22 wont crank.... HELP please

OK this is going to be a little drug out but i wanna get all the info out there.

    car: 1990 Honda accord lx.
engine: jdm h22a, lsd 5spd, skunk2 intake mani and tb, walbro 190 fp.

ill start from the beginning, i went on a one day trip to the beach to break in my new ecu(chipped p28) which is a 3hr trip from my house, honestly the car was running the best it ever had with this motor, it wasn't running too rich or lean, no smoke, no hiccups, no cel light or anything. we made it all the way down there and drove around for about an hr before i filled up to head home. after we filled up i made in approx 25 miles down 211hwy leaving oak island, nc when it broke down. it was like you just cut the key off, no weird noises or anything.

while i was waiting for a tow home, i switched ecus back to my jdm h22 ecu, and changed main relays. i also checked to hear for my fuel pump running. it would turn over but wouldn't crank.
once i got it home i pulled off the dizzy and it had snapped the ears off the dizzy that connect to the cam, so i replaced it with a new td60u. i also checked all the wires and the timing, checked spark to all cylinders (which is good). its getting fuel, and getting fuel into the cylinders. i also pulled the valve cover off and the head is clean as a whistle. i drained the gas tank (hoping it was bad gas) put non-ethanol 93 back in it and changed the fuel filter.

car still turns over but wont fire.... im so stumped it unbelievable please help.

Have you pulled spark plugs to see if they are wet?

    Have you checked for compression?

Have you checked valve clearance? Too tight of clearance makes starting troublesome sometimes.

the #2 cylinder spark plug was soaking wet, the others not so bad, motor has compression (haven't done a comp test tho). and i haven't checked valve clearance yet. ive probably put 3000 miles on the head since i went through it and had it sent to a machine shop. it wont even start off starting fluid going though the intake mani.

If the plugs were wet already, shooting the starting fluid into the intake manifold doesn't make it better. It will be over rich and makes it worse for starting.

Start with the basics check for spark and fuel, and the thermostat grounds.

Other than that pull the valve cover or dizzy cap to make sure everything's moving in sinc when cranked, just to make sure the timing hasn't snapped.

its getting spark and fuel, its in timing, all grounds are connected. timing belt is in good shape. everything in the head still looks brand new from where i sent it to the machine shop about 4 months back.
and the dizzy is brand new and ive checked it all the internal parts of it.

I seen new dizzies go bad.

Confirm that all cylinders are getting a good spark.

Check ignition switch. Check to see that the black/yellow wire has voltage while cranking. All the wires down there should have power with the key on and engine off, except black/white (starter).

Also check the ground on the thermostat housing.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Check the color of the spark too, If the coil is weak you'll get spark but not hot enough to start your car.

Have you gone through, double check what you did for valve clearance 3000 miles ago?
Just because the machine shop went through your head does not mean it is bullet proof. Valve seats may have had high spots now they are worn. And that is causing valves not close all the way while starting the engine.
                    Just a thought......

It takes correct amount and timing of the following; fuel, air, ignition and compression for an engine to start and keep running.

ok so i had 2 of my friends over which are Honda technicians, they done a comp test which was great across the board. they checked valve clearance, changed resistor boxes and ecus, checked all grounds etc.

car is still doing the same thing. will turn over, has spark, getting fuel. but wont start..... any ideas?

What do those Honda Techs say about that?

they are confused too, they deal with dealer cars not swapped obd1 accords. that's why i came here, and they just handed the key back and left.

You have spark and fuel. And the car still won't start? This just doesn't make much sense.

Plug wires are new? One could be bad. If #2 plug was wet it might not be delivering enough spark.

                              Just tossing stuff out there.

                              good luck
