    overheating problem

This over heating issue started while waiting on line to get my inspection sticker . the car was idling for about 30 minutes and once i realized it was overheating , i shut the car down. Figured out when i was fumbling with the starter relay fuse i pulled out the cooling fan fuse. All was fine.

Yesterday i picked up some friends and on the highway the car got hot but wasnt overheating.i felt the lower hose and it was cold. So today i changed the thermostat and flushed the block. i flushed the the radiator also. I let the car idle for a bit and it stayed normal. Drove it to new york, sat in a bunch of traffic and it was fine. When i got home tonight, i let it it idle while i moved another car and i came back to it reading it was overheating.i popped the hood because the needle says it was boiling hot, the fan was on and everything was fine. Last time coolant was gushing into rhe overflow but this time nothing.it was normal.

I have also noticed the the gauge needle sometimes rapidly fluctuates sometimes when im driving.

check the temprature sending unit, the one on the right with the bigger arrow ... it might be foul ,,, re-install it and check... if it isn't working then replace it.

Thanks for teaching me something new. I didnt know that was the water temp sensor. When i did a trans swap , that plug was brittle and partially broke. So imma have to replace the plug first
